LOCATION

Corsica sits in the Mediterranean between mainland France and Italy, closer to the Italian coast than to France. Despite its relatively small size, it packs in over 1,000km of coastline and mountains rising to over 2,700m, making it one of the most vertically dramatic islands in Europe.

CLIMATE

Corsica has a Mediterranean climate along its coast, with hot, dry summers around 28-30°C, while the mountainous interior stays noticeably cooler and can retain snow on higher peaks well into late spring — a genuine contrast within a single small island.

CUISINE

Corsican cuisine blends French and Italian influences with a strong identity of its own. Expect exceptional charcuterie (coppa, lonzu, figatellu), brocciu cheese, chestnut-based dishes from the mountain villages, and increasingly well-regarded Corsican wines.
