Cycling in Costa blanca

Spain's pro cycling training ground

PERFECT WINTER ESCAPE

Costa Blanca is perfect for cyclists chasing winter sun and world-class roads. Reliable sunshine, quiet mountain climbs and unbeatable coastal scenery guarantee every rider a sense of complete and utter freedom. Our tours are based around Calpe and its surrounding roads, the same training ground chosen year after year by professional cycling teams from across Europe. Here you can climb some of Spain's most celebrated ascents, enjoy outstanding Mediterranean food, and ride roads that see more pro peloton traffic each winter than almost anywhere else in Europe. Our aim is to help make your holiday special, by providing the best routes and the best experiences.

The Costa Blanca's appeal to cyclists comes down to a rare combination: a mild Mediterranean climate that makes it rideable virtually year-round, and a dramatic backdrop of limestone mountains rising sharply from the coast just minutes inland. In a single ride you can go from flat coastal roads along the Mediterranean to some of the region's toughest climbs, all within a short loop of Calpe.

Costa Blanca is a destination where you can train exactly like the professionals, on the same roads used every winter by WorldTour teams for altitude and climbing camps. The legendary Coll de Rates, the Sierra de Bernia and countless other climbs sit alongside the dramatic coastal rock of the Peñón de Ifach, one of the most recognisable landmarks on the entire Spanish coast. Given the region's reliable winter climate and superb road surfaces, the Costa Blanca is a destination where visitors can enjoy a holiday full of serious training, relaxation and the thrill of riding the same tarmac as the world's best.

When you think of Spanish food, the Costa Blanca delivers it at its most authentic. This is the birthplace of paella, and the Valencian region's rice dishes are considered the gold standard across Spain. Beyond rice, expect exceptional fresh seafood straight off the Mediterranean, cured jamón, and the almond and turrón traditions the wider Alicante region is famous for. Local wines from the Alicante DO, particularly those made from the native Monastrell grape, pair perfectly with a day spent in the saddle. There are countless restaurants and chiringuitos throughout the region, set in wonderful coastal and mountain locations, and we will bring you to the best.
