TUSCANY

Italy's most beautiful countryside

THE MOST DRAMATIC AND PASSIONATE REGION FOR CYCLING

Cypress trees lining rolling hills, gravel roads and deep red wines flowing. This is Tuscany, Italy's most beautiful countryside is found here.
Nowhere else in Italy can you find such a mix of cycling history, food and wine.
Tuscany is also the home of the world's greatest artists such as Leonardo da Vinci, Dante Alighieri, Michelangelo and Machiavelli, making this region rich in history and cultural heritage.

When you think of ‘Tuscany’ you immediately think of the gravel roads of the 'Eroica' that have seen the history of cycling. In Fact, there is not a better place to go back in time and experience what is like to cycle on these unique roads.

"LIKE LISTENING TO CLASSICAL MUSIC"

"Cycling here in the Chianti region is a little piece of heaven. It's a bit like classical music. It' peaceful, serenity and the most beautiful sceneries that you can be possible to imagine. A super trip, totally relaxing, with lots of rolling hills".

Yvonne Neeson - Clontarf CC

TUSCANY FACTS

LOCATION

Located in central Italy, both along the west coast and inland, Tuscany is one of the most picturesque regions in the world. Known as the birthplace of the Renaissance, Tuscany is renowned for its historically large influence on the arts as well as scientific progression.

CLIMATE

One of the main reasons we all love Tuscany is the weather! Close your eyes and picture yourself on one of those lovely balmy summer evenings when the weather in Tuscany is just perfect, relaxing outside by the pool, the heady perfume of jasmine hanging in the air, glass of Chianti in hand, mesmerised by the sheer spectacle that is a Tuscan sunset.

CUISINE

Tuscany is mostly famous for its wines, including Chianti, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, Morellino di Scansano and Brunello di Montalcino.
Many are also the main dishes of the region such as Lampredotto, Crostine and Panzanella.
Having a strong linguistic and cultural identity, it is sometimes considered "a nation within a nation".

TERRAIN

The characteristic landscape is a blend of gently rolling hills leading on to sharply peaked mountains that pose a formidable barrier between Tuscany and regions to the south. It is bordered in the north and northeast by the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines and the Apuan Alps, these being separated by a series of long valleys.
