Cycling in Italy

The heartland of cycling itself

RIDE WHERE CYCLING HISTORY WAS MADE

There is no better place than Italy for cyclists who want to ride the roads that built the sport. Legendary Giro d'Italia climbs, sun-soaked lakeside towns, ancient hill villages and coastlines that stop you mid-pedal-stroke guarantee every rider a sense of complete and utter freedom. Our tours are based around some of the country's most iconic terrain, from the high passes of the Dolomites and Italian Alps to the rolling white roads of Tuscany and the shores of Lake Garda. Here you can climb roads ridden by cycling's greatest champions, enjoy some of the world's most celebrated food and wine, and experience a country where cycling isn't just a sport — it's part of the national identity. Our aim is to help make your holiday special, by providing the best routes and the best experiences.

Italy's cycling appeal comes from sheer variety within one country — high alpine passes in the north give way to rolling Tuscan hills, ancient Roman roads, and coastlines along two different seas. Few countries offer this range of terrain, culture and history within a single trip, which is exactly why Italy remains the spiritual home of road cycling.

Italy stretches from the high Alps at its northern border down through the Apennine spine to the Mediterranean islands of Sicily and Sardinia. Our Italian tours currently explore Lake Garda, the Dolomites, the Italian Alps and the white roads of Tuscany — each offering a completely different character, from turquoise lakeside towns to the jagged peaks made famous by the Giro d'Italia. Given this range of terrain and culture, Italy is a destination where visitors can enjoy a holiday full of serious climbing, relaxed lakeside riding, or both in the same trip.

When you think of Italian food, you're thinking of one of the most celebrated culinary traditions in the world — and it changes dramatically as you move between regions. Rich Piedmontese wines, Tuscan olive oil and Chianti, Amarone from the hills above Lake Garda, and the espresso culture found in every piazza all reflect Italy's deep regional pride in food. There are countless trattorias throughout the country, set in wonderful lakeside, mountain and hillside locations, and we will bring you to the best.
