LAKE GARDA'S QUIETER SIDE, ON GRAVEL

Yes, a paradise — just not the one most cyclists know. There is no better place than Lake Garda for cyclists looking to trade tarmac for gravel. Based in Moniga del Garda, this trip trades the busy lakeside roads for quiet vineyard tracks, glacial hills and wine country most visitors never see.

During this trip, you will experience gravel cycling in one of Europe’s top destinations while fully immersing yourself in authentic Italian culture and cuisine — including two of the region’s finest wine areas.

Every day is unique — rolling through the vineyard tracks of Valtenesi, the glacial moraine hills of the Colline Moreniche, the flat river paths of the Mincio Valley to Borghetto sul Mincio, and the Amarone wine country of Valpolicella. The moderate elevation and mixed surface profile make it approachable for gravel riders of most levels, not just experts.

This Lake Garda gravel experience is sure to exceed your expectations. It’s the perfect blend of adventure, wine country and quiet, undiscovered roads — a cycling holiday you’ll remember forever.

VALTENESI SHAKEDOWN

35km | 350m elevation gain | 60% gravel

After arrival and once everybody’s bikes are set up, we head out for an easy loop through San Felice del Benaco, Manerba del Garda and Puegnago — a legs-loosener through home turf, olive groves and lakeside gravel paths to shake off travel before the week begins.

COLLINE MORENICHE DEL GARDA

75km | 900m | 65% gravel

The longest day radiating from base. We ride south through Padenghe and Lonato into the glacial moraine hills — Solferino, Castiglione delle Stiviere, Cavriana — historic battlefield terrain, now rolling farm gravel through vineyards and cypress-lined lanes.

BORGHETTO SUL MINCIO & THE MINCIO VALLEY

80km | 400m | 65% gravel

Today’s route heads south via Desenzano and Lonato onto the Mincio river gravel path — one of the flattest, most scenic tracks in the region — into Borghetto sul Mincio, a borgo built over the river itself with its historic mill wheels, and neighbouring Valeggio sul Mincio, before looping back north to Moniga.

VALPOLICELLA

60km | 950m | 70% gravel

A short van transfer (~50 minutes) takes us to Sant’Ambrogio di Valpolicella, where we ride Amarone vineyard tracks through Fumane Valley and Negrar, reaching into the Lessinia foothills, before the van returns everyone to Moniga for the night.

DEEP VALTENESI & VINEYARDS

55km | 650m | 70% gravel

Today we head into the heart of Valtenesi wine country — Polpenazze, Soiano del Lago and Puegnago del Garda — riding rolling vineyard tracks and terraces, with a stop for lunch among the vines.

FAREWELL RIDE: SIRMIONE PENINSULA

40km | 300m | 45% gravel

On the last day, before catching the flight back, we head along the shore toward Sirmione’s peninsula views — a low-key send-off rather than another hard effort, with a stop for a final coffee and lunch on the waterfront.

FANCY A FEW DAYS ON THE ROAD?

This gravel trip runs alongside our Lake Garda & Stelvio road tour, and both groups share the same accommodation and evening restaurants.

Want to swap in a road day or two instead of gravel — including the optional Stelvio day trip?

You can rent a road bike just for the day — just let us know when booking.

Riders on both trips ride together off the bike, so you get the best of both worlds without picking just one.
